Canoe Award

Your Canoe Award endorses your skill, judgement and decision making when journeying in a Canoe. It is tailored to each paddler and will give you the ability to plan and undertake safe journeys.

This award empowers you to make key decisions at the right time. You will learn to judge how environmental factors, the location chosen and those you are with will affect your paddle. By the end of the award you will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys in winds up to force 3 and grade 1 rivers with simple eddy lines.

This course will take place over 2 days starting on flat water working on your boat handling skills and then moving over to some slow moving water to work on using the boat in this environment

Open canoes can be provided or you can use your own boat for the award.

There will be opportunities to develop and progress your rescue skills and meet like-minded people during the course. Many of our course candidates develop long lasting friendships, connections and contacts.
